MOTS-c

What is MOTS-C?

MOTS-C is a naturally occurring, 16-amino-acid peptide encoded by your mitochondrial DNA. Often referred to as an "exercise mimetic," it acts as a critical regulator of cellular metabolism and energy homeostasis.

How does it work?

  • Stress Adaptation: Your mitochondria produce and release MOTS-c during periods of metabolic or physical stress (such as fasting or exercise).

  • Genetic Signalling: MOTS-c travels from the mitochondria to the cell's nucleus, where it directs gene expression to help your body adapt to and survive the stress.

• Energy Activation: It activates the body's "master energy regulator,” AMPK

Key Health Benefits

Because it directs how cells process energy, MOTS-c has been heavily studied in pre-clinical and early clinical trials for its role in longevity and metabolic health:

  • Improves Insulin Sensitivity: It regulates glucose metabolism and helps prevent diet-induced obesity and insulin resistance.

  • Boosts Metabolic Flexibility: It enhances the body's ability to switch between burning glucose and fats.

  • Enhances Physical Performance: It promotes cellular stamina and has been shown in animal studies to improve endurance and physical capacity.

  • Reduces Inflammation: It helps lower oxidative stress and modulates the immune response.

What do I get?

MOTS-C is typically supplied as a freeze-dried (lyophilised) powder in a small 10mg vial. Before use, it must be reconstituted (Mixed) with two (2) millilitre of bacteriostatic water. This involves slowly adding the water for injection to the vial and gently mixing until the powder is fully dissolved. Injections of 1mL (20 units on 100 unit syringe) will give you 10 injections of 1mg of MOTS-C.

How often do I use it?

The best time to inject MOTS-c is first thing in the morning on an empty stomach or 30–60 minutes before your workout. Because MOTS-c mimics fasting and exercise-induced pathways, this timing maximises fat oxidation, glucose control, and energy output.

  • Protocol: Administer subcutaneously in the abdomen, thigh, or flank.

  • Timing: For optimal metabolic benefits, take it early in the morning, ideally 8+ hours after your last meal, and wait at least 60 minutes before eating. Alternatively, use it 30–45 minutes prior to fasted cardio or resistance training.

Standard Dosing & Cycling

  • Typical Dose: Usually 3–10 mg per week, often split into 2–3 smaller doses (e.g., 1 mg every 3 days).

  • Cycle Length: Courses typically run in 4- to 6-week blocks, followed by a 2- to 4-week rest phase.

How do I prepare for use?

To reconstitute the MOTS-C you will need additional items:

Shringes - 1ml Insulin - EG: https://amzn.eu/d/06IXjKNG

Bacterioustatic water - EG:  https://amzn.eu/d/0aBduzbc

Alcohol wipes - EG: https://amzn.eu/d/073r0cc1

Steps to Reconstitute Peptides.

Reconstituting peptides is a straightforward process that ensures accurate dosing and preserves the peptide's integrity. Follow these steps carefully:

  • Clean the Vial Tops:

    • Swab the rubber stoppers on both the peptide vial and the bacteriostatic water vial with alcohol wipes. Allow them to air dry.

  • Draw the Solvent:

    • Using the insulin syringe, draw the desired amount of bacteriostatic water.

  • Inject the Water:

    • Insert the needle into the peptide vial at a slight angle. Slowly inject the bacteriostatic water down the inside wall of the vial to minimise bubbling.

  • Dissolve the Peptide:

    • Gently swirl the vial until the powder is fully dissolved. Avoid shaking the vial, as this can damage the peptide structure.

How do I inject?

Preparing for Injection

  • Wash Hands: Clean your hands thoroughly with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitiser.

  • Select Injection Site: Common sites include:

    • Abdomen (avoid the area around the navel)

    • Upper outer thighs

    • Upper outer arms (if someone else is administering)

Administering the Injection

  • Clean the Injection Site: Use an alcohol pad to clean the area where you will inject.

  • Draw the Dose: Draw the prescribed dose into the syringe.

  • Pinch the Skin: Pinch a fold of skin at the injection site.

  • Insert the Needle: Insert the needle at a 45-degree angle into the fatty tissue just beneath the skin.

  • Inject the Peptide: Push the plunger to deliver the medication.

Post-Injection Care

  • Dispose of the Needle: Place the used syringe in a sharps container immediately.

  • Monitor the Injection Site: Look for any signs of irritation or adverse reactions.

Important Tips

  • Rotate Injection Sites: To prevent tissue damage, always use a new site at least 1-2 inches away from the previous injection.

How do I store my MOTS-C?

  • Reconstituted peptides have a shelve life of approximately 28days and should be stored at a temperature of 2-8 degrees Celsius.

  • Store reconstituted vials in the back of the fridge, not the door (which has temperature swings).

  • Minimise time out of the fridge: Draw your dose quickly (under 2 minutes) and return the vial immediately.

  • Protect from light: UV and visible light degrade peptides .

Are there any side effects?

Users report varying levels of feeling nausea when first using MOTS-C.

The most common side effects of MOTS-C are listed below. These side effects may vary depending on the dose. These symptoms may or may not exist. This will depend on the individual. They may exist in isolation and not all together. Many users report some symptoms lessen over time and use of the product.

  • Redness at the application site

  • Itching or irritation

  • Temporary tenderness

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • Insomnia (if taken too close to bed)
